New Bangladesh-China verbal conflict is starting on Padma Bridge!
The Padma Bridge, is not a part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified. It also said that no foreign funds were taken to complete this multipurpose project. Padma Bridge is not just an engineering masterpiece but a symbol of pride .Padma Bridge stands majestically above the river marked with one of the strongest currents in the world.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically asserts that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has been entirely funded by the Government of Bangladesh and no foreign funds from any bilateral or multilateral funding agency have financially contributed to its construction. According to the foreign ministry, the completion of the bridge will fulfil the dream of Bangladesh of connecting the 19 south-western districts to the rest of the country resulting in collective prosperity, socio-economic development of the country as well as enhanced regional connectivity.

China is eyeing high-speed rail network projects in Bangladesh following Bangladesh Railway (BR) feasibility study for constructing the railway network between Dhaka and Chattogram. In a recent development, China has proposed carrying out the project under the government-to-government-Public Private Partnership framework, reported The Daily Star. Moreover, Dhaka has also selected China Railway Group Ltd, a state-run company, for implementing the project, which will cost more than three times the expenditure for Padma Bridge .
