The deputy superintendent of Haryana Police, aged 59-year-old was mowed down by a truck which was carrying stones from an illegal mining site in the Aravalis, when he interpreted the vehicle and questioned the driver and asked him to stop in Pachgaon village of Nuh .
Police informed that DSP (Tauru) Surender Singh Bishnoi collected a tip-off about the incident of mining mafia in the region around 11.30am. Following which he immediately left with gunman Umesh, assistant police inspector (ASI) Sanjay Kumar and Amit, his driver, in the police vehicle.
When the truck driver realised that he was being followed, he immediately offloaded stones in order to block the police vehicle’s way and tried to run away towards one of the hillocks but the Bolero’s driver managed to catch up. Consequently, Mittar and Ikkar tried to threaten the police team with their pistols. Singh was supposed to retire within four months. The dumper had no registration number plate on the rear and the number painted on the front was not clearly visible (HR 74 A).
Nuh is one among the three south Haryana districts where the Supreme Court in 2009 restricted mining. The location where the DSP was killed is about half an hour away from Sohna in Gurgaon, which is in the middle of rocky, undulating Aravali terrain.
Ikkar who was one of the occupants of the truck was suspected to be one of the helpers of the driver who was later put behind the bars around 4pm followed by a short gunfight in Silkoh village.Police have allegedly stated that a massive search operation have been launched to catch the other five involved.
