
The terrorist involved in the recent targeted killing of a bank manager in Kashmir was among the two Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives were shot dead in an encounter in Shopian last night, police have said.The incident took place on June 2, terrorist had entered into Elaqaie Dihati Bank, Kulgam and killed Vijay Kumar, a bank manager from Rajasthan. The whole incident was recorded on CCTV cameras.
“ShopianEncounterUpdate: 02 terrorists linked with proscribed #terror outfit LeT killed. Identification being ascertained. Further details shall follow,” tweeted the Kashmir Zone Police, and shared about the operation jointly conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army.
Later the police updated another tweet as, “One of the killed terrorists has been identified as Jan Mohd Lone of Shopian. Besides other terror crimes, he was involved in recent killing of Vijay Kumar, Bank manager on June 2 in Kulgam district,” .
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, was shot on June 2, he was newly posted in Kashmir’s Kulgam. The CCTV footage shows, a terrorist entering the bank and firing at him.The murder had brought an enormity as it linked to the series of targeted killings in the Valley. These targeted attacks started last year on migrant workers and local minorities.
