According to an official release, the completion of ongoing projects and expediting the approval procedure for those in the pipeline has been decided to be completed in a fast track mode by the Assam Government and World Bank.

Accordingly , a meeting of delegates of World Bank and state government delegates was chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. During the meeting discussions were held regarding the ongoing external aided projects (EAPs) and the proposed projects which are to be financed by the international financial institution.

The release stated, ”The two sides have agreed upon fast-tracking the completion of the remaining portions of the ongoing projects and expediting the approval procedure for launching those on the pipeline.”

The South Asian regional vice-president Martin Raiser, led the delegation on behalf of The World Bank and its Indian director Auguste Tano Kouameheld was also present in the meeting.

Sarma had lauded the World Bank for its support in realising the growth potential of Assam and hoped that the relationship between the two will nurture as they collaborate on new projects and schemes in the state.

In addition to this, he also inaugurated the ‘State Public Procurement Portal’ which will provide a one stop solution to public procurements of various magnitudes and varieties.
