Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the Central Police District of Guwahati over intelligence inputs that terrorists or anti- social elements may seek hideouts in residential areas with the motive to breach the peace in the city.
 
 
The order restrains all landlords and property owners of the area to refrain from renting or sub-letting accommodation to any person without prior permission from the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station.
 
 
The order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for 60 days unless withdrawn earlier. However, anyone found violating the order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, the order said.
 
 
The Central Police District of Guwahati includes the areas under the jurisdiction of Chandmari, Noonmati, Geetanagar, Paltan Bazar, Pan Bazar, Latasil, Satgaon and Pragjyotishpur police stations.
