In a first, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President-elect Joe Biden, congratulating him for cementing his path to the white house.
 
 
During the telephonic conversation, the two leaders reiterated their firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed common topics like climate change, coronavirus pandemic and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Region.
 
 
The Prime Minister also conveyed warm congratulations for US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, terming her success to be a matter of great pride and inspiration for members of the vibrant Indian-American community, that stands as strength for Indo-US relations.
 
 
Moreover, a statement from Biden-Harris' transition team revealed that the President-elect thanked PM Modi for his wishes and expressed the desire to expand the Indo-US partnership.
