The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president has offered a pre-poll pact to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Owaisi has said that his party will assist Trinamool Congress (TMC) in defeating the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the state assembly elections. Asaduddin Owaisi has set his sights on the West Bengal polls next year.
CPI (M) and Congress held a two-hour long meeting on Tuesday night to draw out its strategy as the news of AIMIM contesting in the West Bengal polls emerged. The alliance partners aim to reach out to community leaders and notable personalities belonging to the minority community.
The TMC has been appealing the voters to resist outsiders as they will harass and terrorise the people. Congress’ Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called AIMIM a B-team of the BJP who aim to divide Muslim votes and damage other “secular parties”
