Sonowal writes to Amit Shah on Assam-Mizoram border row

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the tension with Mizoram as a person from the Cachar district died in custody in the neighbouring state.
 
 
Sonowal also expressed condolences over the death of Intazul Laskar who was abducted by miscreants from Lailapur Border Outpost area of Cachar district along the Assam-Mizoram border.
 
 
An amount of Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for next of the kin of the deceased was also announced by him.
 
 
According to reports, tension has been prevailing since October 17 after miscreants allegedly damaged 18 temporary huts and three semi-urban dwelling units in the bordering areas.
 
 
Several rounds of talks have been held between officials of Assam, Mizoram and the central government since the issue started.
