
The Assam government is now planing to file a report to the central government on the issue of granting ST status to six indigenous community of Assam. The state health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while interacting to media informed this.
The minister said that these six indigenous communities who now enjoy OBC status deserve to get upgraded to ST status. He also added that this action should not be seen with the political or electoral perspective as this is a social issue.
Yesterday, during an election rally at Silchar, the National president of BJP, JP Nadda also retirated the commitment of BJP to grant ST status to these six indigenous community of Assam.
