After a few years, the people of the North East will see a 15.6-km twin tunnel under the mighty Brahmaputra river, which will not only protect Kaziranga National Park but also benefit India strategically by cutting down on travel time between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh . Two 15.6 km long twin road under the river Brahmaputra in Assam would be constructed as the central government and Directorate of Military Operations have given their approval. According to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited , both the tunnels will be interlinked to facilitate evacuation in case of an accident or any other emergency. The tunnels will have an electrical substation, sensors, and CCTVs to monitor vehicular movement.
