
In a massive heartbreak for India, Tokyo Olympics 2020 Javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra who scripted history on Sunday by winning a medal at the World Championships is set to miss the Commonwealth Games 2022. Neeraj picked up a groin injury at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon and it has ruled him out of CWG 2022.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General Rajiv Mehta said the reigning Olympic champion has been advised rest for one month.The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 is scheduled to be held from July 28 to August 8.The 24-year-old had become only the second Indian athlete to win a medal at World Championship, after Anju Bobby George, who won a bronze medal in long jump at the 2003 World Championship held in Paris.
